Hugo Lloris to White Hart Lane?

According to the English media, French international and current Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will join Tottenham Hotspur for 12 million Pounds if and when Luka Modric leaves the club for Real Madrid.

Andre Villas-Boas-the new Spurs' manager has been on the hound for a new goalkeeper all summer and sees Hugo Lloris as the successor to the aging 41-year-old Brad Friedal who was first choice in Harry Redknapp's final season at the club last year.

Once Luka Modric makes his summer move to Real Madrid, Spurs will use the money to splash 12 million Pounds on the 25-year-old keeper.

Lloris has appeared 37 times for France and 177 times for Lyon and his signing would likely mean the departure of Friedal who has made 38 full appearances in the league for the past eight seasons and only missed 5 games in total from the three seasons previous at his spells at Spurs, Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers respectively.

Lloris' father Luc has confirmed that the signing of his son will be accelerated once Modric leaves by stating:

"I'm sure that Hugo's move will be accelerated if Modric joins Real"

Tottenham may feel they need a younger goalkeeper however Villas-Boas might need to focus on signing an attacker with only Jermain Defoe as the recognised striker for the club with only weeks to go before the new campaign kicks-off.

If Modric does leave the club, they could however spend 12 million Pounds on Lloris and have spare cash to sign transfer target Edin Dzeko amongst others.
